Well another year for the deer hunt has come and gone now. It was a tough one this year. We drove lots of miles, saw lots of pretty scenery, had lots of family quality time, hiked lots of terrain, ate lots of junk food, and in the end Scott shot a 2 point.
We started out going to Cedar Mountain where Scott's Grandpa has a cabin. For 2 days we drove around this mountain or hiked on it. Our plans were to find something bigger than a 2 point but Scott only saw 2 points or spikes and that wasn't what he or I wanted. So we gathered a few things and headed up into the town of Marysvale. That was an adventure all by itself.
We got there about 1 in the afternoon so we decided to drive up on the East side to have a look and then in the evening we would drive up on the West side on 4-wheelers. My parents also came along for the ride. We definitely saw deer but nothing with horns. About an hour into the drive my dad had gotten us on a road that lets just say hadn't seen any type of motor vehicle for several years. After driving on this road for a good 20 minutes we came to an area that had been built up. Scott thought (for some crazy reason) we could make it over and through this little build up so with his direction my dad began to drive up and over to come to a full stop on this little hill. And there we sat for the next 1 1/2 to 2 hours. After many attempts to dig under and pile stuff in just the right spots we finally used the jacks. Put enough under the back tires to get us out and then we were off. However because of this we didn't make it to the West side.
The plan was to go on a "whim" as Scott called it, to Marysvale. So we didn't take anything with us but luckily my parents had enough things around the house left from over the years that we all had something to wear for bed. The next morning Scott, my dad, and I got up and went up on the West side. Again lots of deer but nothing with horns.
We got back loaded up and went back up to Cedar Mtn. On the way we decided to try an area one more time and this would be it, then we would go home. As luck would have it Scott was able to shoot a deer. We got back to the cabin cleaned things up, loaded up, and drove back to Vegas. (All in the same day.) The things we do for deer hunting. :) Cant say I would have wanted it any other way. I love this time of year to go with my family and spend time. Dana calls it "our family tradition". I would have to agree since we have been doing it for the last 13 years. The only thing we have done consistently every year.
Can you find "Where's Scott" in this picture?
