Dana graduated 8th grade

Dana graduated from Roy Martin Middle School on June 9,2011.  Dana did really well throughout her middle school years so she earned some awards for it.  She received the Silver Scholar Award which is to recognize the academic achievement of top middle school students in NV.  She received the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence.  This award is only given to 1 student in each school so it was awesome for her to get it.  She also received the Community Service Award for completing the community service requirements of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program.  (6th grade required 10 hours - 7th grade 20 - 8th grade 30)  She actually completed more than necessary for 8th grade.  Dana will continue her education for high school at Las Vegas Academy where she will major in Foreign Language - Japanese.  (Yes they have majors and junior year you can have a minor too.)  We are so excited for the advantages to living here that our kids have.  And don't think we pushed her to do this.  Dana chose where she wanted to go and applied, tried out, and was accepted.  I just hope that she will enjoy her high school years as much as the next kid.

Afterwords we had a little party at the house.  My sister and her kids, Colton, and Grandma and Grandpa Willden all came down to party.

Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of the awesome cake pops that seriously took us 3 days to make but they were little graduation hats.  (Good thing the next graduation in the family wont be for a year.)  We also had yummy food and conversation.  It was a great day.  So proud of you Dana.  I know you will continue to do well.
