Martin participated in his first track meet ever and did great. He was chosen by his P.E. teacher and then was able to pick the events he wanted to do. He could choose 2 field and 1 race or 2 races and 1 field event. He chose the later which was a good idea. Here he is getting ready for his first event the 100 m. dash.
The meet consisted of 6 elementary schools in all and here he is crossing the finish line with a large margin between him and the next kid in red. He won this one without breaking a sweat.
Then he competed in the disc throwing contest. It was basically a frisbee toss. Never found out the results of this one but from what we saw he did pretty good.
Last was his 300 m. relay race consisting of 4 kids. Martin was to be the last leg of the race.
They had enough boys sign up that they actually were able to participate in it twice. Most of the meets had more than 2 rounds.
Here he is crossing the line first again. His group did great. Unfortunately the other group forgot one of the hand offs and as a result came in last.
It was a great day to see Martin excel in something he loves to do. It was great to have Grandma and Grandpa Willden there to watch and support him as well.
